Insurance, Claims and Billing at Circle Physiotherapy in Brampton

At Circle Physiotherapy, claims are submitted on your behalf to every large Canadian extended health carrier, to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and to auto insurers handling motor vehicle accident (MVA) files under Ontario's Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS). Brampton patients frequently leave having paid nothing that day: the claim travels electronically, a coverage response returns while you wait, and any share falling to you is spelled out before you go.

Carriers We Submit Claims To

Claims for chiropractic, acupuncture, custom orthotics, pelvic floor physiotherapy, registered massage therapy and general physiotherapy go straight to the carriers below, provided your own plan includes that service:

  • Sun Life Financial
  • Manulife Financial
  • Canada Life (formerly Great-West Life)
  • Green Shield Canada
  • Desjardins Insurance
  • Blue Cross (Ontario, Alberta, Pacific)
  • Equitable Life of Canada
  • Industrial Alliance (iA Financial Group)
  • SSQ Insurance / La Capitale
  • ClaimSecure
  • Johnson Inc.
  • GroupHEALTH / GroupSource
  • Beneva (Beneplan)
  • Canadian Forces (CAF SISIP)
  • RCMP
  • Veterans Affairs Canada
  • Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB)

Your Claim, Step by Step

Claims are filed electronically and answered within moments. This is the sequence at your first appointment:

  1. Hand us your benefit card details: member ID, group or plan number, and who the policyholder is.
  2. Reception contacts the carrier to confirm what remains in your annual maximum, your visit cap, the reimbursement percentage, and whether a doctor's referral is needed.
  3. When your session ends, the claim is filed through your carrier's portal — TELUS Health, inTELUS, ClaimStream, or their own system.
  4. A reply usually comes back in seconds, stating how much the plan covers.
  5. Only the leftover balance is charged to you — early in a benefit year, frequently nothing.
  6. A detailed receipt splitting the plan's share from yours goes home with you for tax filing.

Deductibles, co-payments, and exhausted annual maximums are all flagged for you before treatment begins, so nothing on your invoice comes as a shock.

WSIB Claims for Work Injuries

Our clinic is registered with WSIB. If you were hurt on the job in Ontario and your claim is approved, physiotherapy, chiropractic care and related rehabilitation are funded by WSIB, not by you. Form 8 (Treating Healthcare Professional Report), Form 8A (progress reports) and Form 26 (Functional Abilities Form) are completed on site and invoiced to WSIB. We also liaise with your case manager, your workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee, and whoever oversees your Return-to-Work file.

Collision Injuries: MVA Coverage Through Ontario SABS

Ontario drivers and passengers hurt in a collision are entitled to rehabilitation benefits whoever was to blame — acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic care, physiotherapy and other approved services all fall within that funding. SABS paperwork sits with us: the OCF-18 treatment plan, OCF-23 Minor Injury Guideline forms, the OCF-3 disability certificate, invoicing the insurer, and keeping your personal injury lawyer informed if you have one. Our MVA physiotherapy page walks through it in detail.

The Role OHIP Plays in Private Clinics

Physiotherapy, chiropractic and registered massage therapy at a private Ontario clinic sit outside what OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) pays for. Publicly funded physiotherapy exists only in a narrow set of streams: hospital outpatient departments, Community Care Access programs aimed at patients 65+ or 19 and under, and some WSIB or MVA referrals. Nearly all of our patients are funded instead by extended health benefits, WSIB, or an auto claim.

Your Share and the Tax Credit

Money you spend yourself on physiotherapy, chiropractic care or registered massage therapy counts toward Canada's Medical Expense Tax Credit (METC). Itemised receipts are issued for your return. Whatever your benefit plan paid cannot be claimed — the credit applies only to your own share.

Still Unsure About Your Benefits?

A quick phone call to reception on (905) 495-5600 — or a note to info@circlephysiotherapy.ca — sorts this out beforehand. We'll look up your benefits, explain what the plan allows, and warn you about any amount you might owe.
